Having previously played competitive hockey and squash I have a history of lower back and pelvis issues, that often then refer up into my neck and shoulders. Not to mention my now sedentary job hunch over a computer. This results in either sciatica, pins and needles, headaches / migraines, constant pain, or complete immobility.

I have experienced my fair share of Physios, Osteopaths, Chiropractors and sports injury therapists. This is as a result of my legacy sports injuries, coupled with having spent a 9 year chapter of my life in the health and fitness industry running health clubs.

For the best part of 17 years, I came to only trusted one therapist out of the 40+ I had used between the age of 19 - 47. I am now 53. That therapist was extremely well respected; Performance Director for national teams, part of several Olympic Teams over the years, Chief Physiotherapist to UK Athletics/British Athletics and more.

However understandable his credential came at a cost, which I could not sustain and I also moved away from the area.

I was recommended to Stephen at Active Therapy after becoming immobile again and reluctantly went to see him. It was the best decision I made. Stephen's knowledge, commitment and approach to getting the desire result is a credit to him.

I was blown away by the whole body holistic approach he applied to get to the root cause of an issue, rather than just treat a symptom. This isn't just the normal click and clunk type treatment you might get somewhere else. This is treatment as it should be; informative, educational, effective, long term benefit, preventative and with total professionalism, care, a smile and what I can only describe as voodoo magic. The number of times I asked after he had done something, "How does that work, that's insane".

I have moved away from Active Therapy's area now, but I have no issues travelling the 1.5 hours each way to see him as I trust Stephen to resolve any issue I have.

Being completely honest, I think he also undercharges for what he does. But then that is another great thing about the clinic; exceptional value and making a difference to those that need it by making it as financially accessible as possible.

I thought my old therapist was the best, until I was introduce to Stephen. And a blooming nice guy to boot.
